With a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, becoming a floral designer was definitely not on my life bingo card.

I fell into the world of floristry through my mother’s love of flowers and her passion for entrepreneurship. Somewhere along the way, I discovered a passion of my own - and now I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.

Floristry holds a special place in my heart because, for the first time in my life, I found something that truly felt like me. I’ve gone through life trying a lot of different things, but I never really felt like I was particularly good at any of them. Floristry changed that. It gave me the creative outlet where I could trust my instincts, develop my own style, and realize that I was actually good at something - and even more meaningful, be celebrated for it.

As a self-taught florist, my designs are often feeling-based. I follow what looks, feels and speak to me rather than always trying to follow the rules. They may not always be “school correct,” but they are created with intention, creativity and a whole lot of heart.

What I love most about floristry is being part of someone’s special moments. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing someone’s face light up when they receive their flowers and knowing that I had a small part in making their day a little better, that feeling is why I love what I do. I pour that same love, care and intention to every design I create. I’m proud of my work, proud of how far I’ve come (10 years journey and counting) and proud to create something that can invoke feelings when they see or receive my work - whether that’s love, joy, comfort, celebration, or simply just-because happiness.

My hope is that my creations bring a little more beauty into this world and that the love behind them comes through every arrangement.
